These are tiny seeds, not bulbs or plants. I wanted to try some new plant varieties and I've been a fan of the Venus Fly Trap since I was a kid watching them eat flies. These are not for beginners or anyone who has a black thumb.
Germination 28 - 35 days. You will need to cold stratify. For example, you can fold the seeds inside a wet paper towel inside a plastic bag, then store inside a refrigerator for a couple weeks. Bottom water your pot or tray using only distilled water, tap water may kill the seedlings. Venus flytraps without a pink interior or long, spindly leaves, probably are not getting enough sunlight. Keep the environment humid, moist soil, but also not waterlogged. Grow them in a pot with drainage holes. If you have a Venus flytrap terrarium, add gravel under the soil for additional drainage. Also make sure there is good air circulation. Avoid full sun if the plants are under glass or plastic to avoid overheating and killing your plants.
The maximum height is about 9" tall.
AVOID POTTING SOIL. Only use peat moss or sphagnum moss. Venus Fly Trap gets its nutrients from insects so avoid fertilizing.
****PLEASE NOTE: Venus Flytrap seeds are VERY tiny. For those used to seeing seed packets full of larger seeds, this may be unexpected. Please make sure you understand this before placing your order. We recommend using strong reading glasses to plant the seeds. You may also plant them in small pots of soil or peat pots to get them started.
